About Dr. J Hall

For more than 35 years, J Hall has been helping high school and college students—and the families who support them—navigate the college journey with confidence. He has spent the last two decades working in higher education as a faculty member, curriculum leader, and dean, giving him a clear, firsthand understanding of the challenges students face and the questions parents most need answered.
With a master’s and Ph.D. in sociology, J combines academic insight with an approachable, practical style that helps audiences feel informed, empowered, and ready for what comes next.
He is the author of College Unpacked: A Practical Guide to Choosing, Preparing For, and Excelling in College, a straightforward resource designed to demystify everything from choosing a school to thriving once students arrive on campus.
